            Photos from Our Past

Virginia (Horn) Stelk created scrapbooks while we were all growing up but after enough decades they have served their purposes and were in her way.  At the 2013 New England 'tweener (the last one!) she opened her car's truck and asked me if I wanted her old stuff.  A quick peek led to a quick "YES!"

I showed a lot of her donations over the years but here are a couple more (or again) plus one from Sandy (Shilling) Rathbun.

In Christmas 1950 we were in 6th grade and many of us who were starting our second year of learning to play a musical instrument formed an Elementary Orchestra.

I remember nothing about the songs we played and thankfully there is no recording.  But I'm sure our relatives, like my deaf grandmother, thought we sounded great.

Of the composes listed I recognize, 2 of them lived 450 years apart!  Mozart lived about mid-way between the two.

If you left-click on either of the next two photos, you may get a large version.  I hope so.

The Journal photo shows our 8th grade officers (all girls!).

Donna Dyck was Secretary.

Jeanette Johnson was VP.

Prisilla Herring was Treasurer.

Ann Von Schriltz was President.

Pris is very much with us.

Donna died in 2017.

Ann left town before high school,

as did Jeanette.

I recall Ann as a leader in many things and

she played the trombone.  Janette played the clarinet while Donna (and I) played the flute.

This group had a farewell party at the old swimming pool for Jeanette around 9th grade.

Jeanette is not in the photo so I assume she took it.  I got it from Sandy (Shilling) Rathbun.

The large photo shows their names.

Left-click on it with the mouse.

    So What's New?                                              June 2, 2021

"Personals" and "Just for Fun" havene/t changed for a while

but on this "Home" page are new/old photos from long ago.

On the right is the cover to a scrapbook with goodies

from 7th and 8th grades that Ginny created and preserved.

If you are using Internet Explorer and some of the menu buttons just above will not work when clicked upon, look just above the mustangs for this message:  "To help protect your security,..."  Click on that line to get some options and then click on "Allow blocked content."  All should now be well.  (The content being blocked are little pop-up windows, which normally are annoying ads.  Here, menu items like "Reunions" have pop-ups that I made so you can select the year, the grade school, etc.  There should never be any ads.)
